The last two weeks have been one of a struggle for me. Last Saturday my uncle, my mom’s brother, passed away. He has been sick for the last couple of years and finally he decided that he had had enough. My aunt had called me a couple weeks ago letting me know that my uncle had been taking a turn for the worst and to make sure to call him and tell him I love him. No sweat I thought, its always great to talk to my Uncle and have a good laugh with him. It wasn’t until I heard him on the phone that my mind started racing. He didn’t sound very well and I knew in my heart that this was going to be a struggle.
Dave had planned an awesome weekend away for the two of us, heading up to Big Bear for us to go snowboarding. Now, if you know Dave, he is not one to snowboard but being the amazing husband that he is he booked it for me.
We had gotten off of work on Thursday and were getting packed and ready to go when I got a phone call from my mom saying that my Uncle was back in the hospital and she was heading out there to see him because my aunt didn’t think he would make it much longer. Without hesitation I said that Dave and I would be there. Again, my heart was racing with what is he going to look like, how am I going to not have my Uncle in my life. My Uncle was a very opinionated person, who spoke his mind, which has followed down the line with my sister and I. His laugh was infections and he was hilarious to be around. When we were little we would head over to Balboa Island and stay with my aunt and uncle. I always remember their flamingo items in their house and sitting on the ledge watching the boat parade. These are fond memories of my uncle. When Dave and I had gotten married his health was bad then as well, but he came out to my wedding and I will always be so greatful for that. I love my uncle SO much, and to not see him again is going to be tough.

When Dave and I got to the hospital it was hard to see how skinny my uncle and seeing him in the hospital. I had to walk out of the room and catch my breath and hold back my tears (well try). We were with him all day, he was awake, alert and cracking jokes like he normally does. I had the opportunity to spend more time with my Uncle. While I was there though it was hard for me to process this. I didn’t want to sit in the hospital and wait for my Uncle to pass away. So, I had to ask my mom and Dave to leave I just couldn’t do it. We had left and during the week I had called my Uncle to say hello, my aunt had said that he wasn’t speaking to much but she put me on speaker and I told him how much I loved him and in the smallest breath he said, ” I love you too.” That memory will forever be engraved in my head. I was glad I got to hear it one last time before he passed away. He was only 58.
So, for everyone out there this Easter weekend make sure you tell everyone how much you love them. Spend every minute you can with the one’s you love. “Enjoy the little things,” that life has to offer. Thank you everyone for being so patient with me the last couple of weeks for not posting, it has been a very rough time. I wish you all a Happy Easter.

Speaking of getting back into it..Hello Mr. Don Draper!! Thank you Mad Men for coming back and putting this face back on televisions across the world.

So, this morning I woke up and realized this is the last year of my 20′s! Ahhhhh!! I remember being little and thinking how old 29 was and now that day has come..Far to quickly I might add. Looking back throughout my 29 years there are some things I’ve come to realize..And here is my little list:
1. The myth is true about gray hairs, if you pull them out 10 come back.
2. Drinking like you are 21 is WAY worse of a recovery then when you were actually 21. The hangover last the ENTIRE next day, yes people, the ENTIRE next day.
3. Del Taco at 2 in the morning..again..WAY worse the next day
4. Working out everyday is a must, your body does not bounce back as quickly as when you were in your early 20′s. IE. Del Taco at 2 am. ha!
5. And last but not least people in their early 20′s look at you like your WAY WAY older then them..haha..You are the older, Wiser Veteran!
I love all of my friends at work and they are making my day so much better and so much more fun! I hope you all have a great day!!!

I love the simplicity of a dark wall with touches of white and pop colors. Normally, I am not one to like dark walls for the mere fact that I think it closes in a room, but lately I have found that adding those bright details actually expands the room. At least in my opinion.

Hello Active for Fashion readers! My name is Kristina, a home decor and Southern California lifestyle blogger for Nook & Sea. I’m so thrilled to be sharing my love of all-things-interiors with you! Lauren is one creative gal and I’m inspired by her experience and ambition. Living by the beach is one of my favorite aspects of our home, and with that, comes tons of inspiration for coastal influence. Glass, in particular, is one element I’ve found that reflects ocean lifestyle, but also easily translates well into any type of decor theme. Here, I’ve gathered some of my favorite examples of how glass accessories can be used in various ways to add light, texture and diversity to every room. Be sure to stop by sometime and say hello!

Yay! Happy March 1st! It’s exciting to think that March is already here..Spring is right around the corner my favorite time of the year. I love smelling all of the yummy scents in the air and feeling the warmth of the almost summer sun.
Even though I live in California and its hot 90% of the time, it still excites me. March also marks the time for when we set our clocks forward leaving us with longer nights which I absolutely LOVE! Oh, and this month is my Birthday! Minor side note! hehe! Happy March first everyone and I am exciting to get back into the swing of things on my blog. I know I’ve been missing a little this past month, but I decided to just cut my losses on February and start fresh for March.
I hope everyone is having a great week so far.
